Kodikunnil Suresh, Lawyer by profession, politician, and current Member of Parliament was born in 1962 in Kodikunnil town of Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state. He was the youngest son of the family of Kunjan and Thankamma. His family was known as the poor family of his village. In his political career, he joined the Indian National Congress Party and first time was introduced directly in the Lok Sabha general election in 1989 and continuously elected in the next general elections of 1991, 96, and 1999 as a member of the parliament.

He lost his next two general elections 1998 and 2004. Once again he came back in the general election of 2009 and joined the Parliament of India. Kodikunnil Suresh served as the Union Minister of Labor and Employment in the second term of PM Manmohan Singh’s government of India.

Kodikunnil Suresh was alleged for his cast certificate after winning the 2009 election. He was first disqualified by the Kerala High Court but the Supreme Court of India Resumed him as the Member of Parliament. Kodikunnil was promoted as the Union minister in the same tenure by the Manmohan Singh’s government. He was elected as the president of the Congress working committee of Kerala and became the key member in forming the INDI alliance with Congress and other parties in the general election of 2024.
