N K Premachandran, a Senior Politician of the Revolutionary Socialist Party of Kerala is currently serving as a member of Lok Sabha, the Lower house of the Parliament of India as the representative of the RSP from the Kollam constituency of the Kerala State. He started politics in the state as a member of the student wing of the party in his college years. Premachandran served as a member of the Lok Sabha, a Member of the Rajya Sabha, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), and a Cabinet Minister in the Kerala state government in his political career.
He was born in Navaikulam town of Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state in 1960. NK Premachandran finished his schooling in his native place and moved to Thiruvananthapuram city for higher education. In his college years, he was inclined toward politics. Premachandran was famous for his speeches in student politics which led him into the way of successful politics.

Premachandran’s political journey started in 1996. He won his first electoral contest in general Lok Sabha from the Kollam constituency in 1996 as the candidate of the Revolutionary Socialist Party at the age of 36 years. In 2000 he was nominated for Rajya Sabha and won unimposingly the Kerala Rajya Sabha seat. He also contested in the state assembly election and joined the state government as the Cabinet Minister of the state. Premachandran lives in Kollam city with his family, his Wife Geetha, and his son.
