Poonamben Hematbhai Maadam, a Young Indian politician from the Gujarat state and current member of the lower house, Lok Sabha of the Parliament of India was born into the political background family of Hematbhai Maadam in Jamnagar city of the Gujarat state in 1974. She finished her schooling in his native place and was brought up by her mother Dinaben Maadam with her siblings. Poonamben joined Gujarat University Jamnagar and completed her graduation in commerce. She left her education after graduation and joined politics with her father. Her native uncle Vikaram Madan was also in politics with his father.

She joined the Indian National Congress (INC) party with her father and started participating with her father in political meetings and rallies. Soon she got attention from higher leaders of the Gujarat Congress. She was offered as the candidate of the Congress party in the state assembly elections. However, her uncle strongly opposed her nomination despite her entry into active politics.
