Shaktisinh Gohil, Member of the Indian Parliament, Rajya Sabha was born in 1960 Bhavnagar district of Gujarat State. He belongs to the Princely state of Saurashtra region, the Limda Dynasty. His grandfather Shri Ranjitsinhji Bhavsinhji protested against Junagarh Nawab for his decision to merge with Pakistan at the time of independence of India. Shakisin completed his Bachelor of Science degree from Bhavnagar University. He obtained his LLB degree from Saurashtra University.

His political career began when he was elected as the president of the Youth Congress Party from Bhavnagar District. He was very active in the Umrala constituency and contested in the local body election of the district. Once he was elected as Zilla Panchayat president of Bhavnagar District. After becoming a member of the All India Congress Committee, he contests the assembly election. Later, he served as the state minister in two consecutive terms of State government in 1991 and 1995.
