Shri Sunil Dattatray Tatkare is a popular politician of Maharashtra, who is serving as the Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha. He was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Raigad Lok Sabha Constituency as the candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party in the 2024 General Elections. Sunil Tatkare won the election by 82784 votes over Anant Geete, a candidate of SS (UBT). He is associated with the Nationalist Congress Party.

He was born marginal farmer family of Shri Dattatray Tatkare and Geeta in Mumbai City of Maharashtra on 10 July 1955. Sunil Tatkare completed a P.D. in Science, educated at J.S.M. College, Alibag, Raigad, Maharashtra. His brother Anil Tatkare and nephew Avdhoot Tatkare, both are famous politicians and members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Sunil Dattatray Tatkare worked as a government road contractor before joining the Indian National Congress in 1984 and started his political career by joining INC. He was the President of Zila Parishad, Raigad, Maharashtra from 1992 to 1995. He became the MLA on the Congress Party’s ticket in 1995 by winning the 1995 General Assembly Election of Maharashtra and served four terms regularly till 2014. Sunil Tatkare also served as Minister of Food and Civil Supplies in 2004. In 2008, he was appointed Energy Minister and in 2009 Finance Minister.
